Tokyo Seisakusho Doctor Blade

Tokyo Seisakusho has manufactured doctor blades in Japan since 1977 and controls every step in-house, from steel imported from Sweden and Germany through endless grinding and edge finishing to electroless plating. Fortis Industrial is the brand’s sole distributor in Malaysia and stocks four blade types for flexo and gravure presses. The Steel blade uses high-quality Swedish material with a smooth, rounded lamella edge for clean metering and long anilox life. QROWT is a higher-hardness material with excellent durability and better rust protection, widely used for abrasive white and pearl inks.

Tip Ceramic Coating plates only the working edge, giving more flexibility than a full coating and longer life than plain steel. Full Ceramic Coating uses electroless plating with dispersed SiC particles for maximum durability on long runs and fewer printing defects. Blades are supplied in 0.15 mm and 0.20 mm material thickness, 40–60 mm widths, edge thicknesses from 40 to 150 µm and lamella (single or double) or bevel shapes. Send us your current blade specification and we will match it from stock.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose between steel, QROWT and ceramic-coated blades?

Start with your ink and run length. Standard steel blades suit most solvent and water-based work at the lowest cost per blade. QROWT’s harder material lasts longer with abrasive white, pearl and metallic inks. Tip ceramic coating extends life while keeping the blade flexible; full ceramic coating gives the longest life on long runs and helps reduce scoring and streaks.

What blade dimensions does Tokyo Seisakusho offer?

Material thickness 0.15 mm or 0.20 mm, widths of 40, 50 and 60 mm, and edge (tip) thicknesses from 40 µm to 150 µm depending on type, in single lamella, double lamella or bevel edge shapes. Fortis Industrial can advise the closest match to the blade you currently run.

Will a coated blade damage my ceramic anilox roller?

No — the coating is designed to protect the anilox, not wear it. Blade damage to anilox rollers usually comes from excessive blade pressure, a wrong contact angle or dried ink under the blade. Keep pressure light, clean the chamber regularly with Recyl products and inspect the roll with a Troika AniCAM to track cell volume.
