Idler, guide and draw rollers need grip to hold a moving web without slipping, and a surface that inks, adhesives and coatings will not stick to. Roller wrapper tapes give a plain steel roller both properties in minutes, without sending it out for rubber covering. Fortis Industrial supplies two proven options to Malaysian printers and converters. tesa® Printer’s Friend 4863 PV3 is a specially treated fabric covered with an embossed silicone rubber coating; the textured surface is highly resistant to sticky substances yet provides a reliable non-slip grip on paper, film and foil webs, and it is easy to re-wrap when worn.

Cork tape is the traditional alternative: a cork-and-rubber composite that raises the coefficient of friction to hold the web flat, repels a variety of substances and helps prevent wrinkles and folds on the run. Both are supplied in roll widths suited to spiral wrapping.
